Successful Seminar Conducted by H.E. Tesfamichael Gerahtu in Sheffield UK |

On 20th November
2011 as part of the consorted efforts in combating the UNjust sanctions
and strengthening national capacity a seminar was conducted by H.E.
Ambassador Tesfamichael Gerahtu, Embassy officials and Eritreans residing
in Sheffield. The event saw more than 250 Eritrean participants which 200 of them were youth; the Ambassador gave extensive briefing on current state of affairs of Eritrea, the horn of Africa, the issue of sanctions and its progress, future public campaign plans were amongst topics that were discussed. Discussing on the issues of sanctions, the Ambassador stressed that the sanctions were passed two years ago in an UNjust and illegal manner, nonetheless the sanctions shall be defeated on the efforts and unity of the Eritrean people. The ambassador further noted, even if the conspiracy and ploys by enemies of Eritrea to stifle Eritrea's economy by further adding sanctions, many countries have rejected this move, in addition to that the ambassador stated that there is no doubt that the sanctions will be defeated by the strong unity of the Eritrean people. The initiative
of Eritreans residing in the UK and in particular in Sheffield to defeating
the illegal and UNjust sanctions that was witnessed on the basis of strong
organisation in all areas was one that deserves huge recognition. This
also attests that future conspiracy and ploys will be thwarted by taking
upon and building on the vital experiences gained so far. The ambassador
also stressed that we need to work even harder in sustaining our unity
and organisation by building a strong community through the collective
participation that is filled with family spirit. On his closing remarks
the Ambassador reminded the participants that we can only accomplish the
long term interests of our people and country by the points that he outlined. On conclusion of the seminar Ambassador Gerahtu gave adequate answers to the questions and comments of the participants. The participants on their part expressed readiness by working on strengthening strong organisation and forming a strong bond between their people and government. They also vowed to work hard in ensuring the participation of their fellow citizens that reside in their surroundings to participate in national organisations and the project of food security in Eritrea.
