AGE held its First Annual General Meeting

The Action Group for Eritrea (AGE) held its first annual general meeting on Sunday the 19th of March 2006. AGE Chairman Simon Marcos gave a detailed speech on the activities carried out in the year 2005/2006 and the future plans of the group.
 

In the year 2005/2006, the group pressed Eritrea’s case in the United Kingdom and European Union through face-to-face meeting with several Members of Parliaments and Civil Servants of the UK and the EU, letter writing campaign, demonstrations, petitions, public meeting with MPs, telephone campaign, dinner reception, publication and via the media.

For the past year the group’s activities have focused on the campaign for the full and unconditional implementation of the Eritrea Ethiopia Border Commission (EEBC) ruling. However, the group has also been carrying out some activities to contribute in the development of education in Eritrea. Mr. Simon Marcos stated that in the year 2006/2007 the group will make more effort to support the libraries in Eritrea by sending books.
 

After a brief discussion, the meeting was concluded by electing seven members of board.
