Dr. Tesfay Gebremedhn held a seminar on the relationship between parents and children in the UK on Sunday. The seminar started with the children in the afternoon and continued with the parents throughout the evening.

Dr Tesfay gave a very detailed seminar highlighting the major problems that contribute to conflict and misunderstanding between children and parents. Some of the issues he explained in great detail were communication, culture, education and attitude.

Towards the end of each seminar the children and parents were given opportunity to ask questions and give their comments. The children complained that their parents do not listen to them and that they do not have a hall to meet with other Eritrean children. They also asked Dr. Tesfay to speak to the parents the issues the complained about.

This kind of seminar that involves children and parents was held for the first time in the Eritrean community in the UK. Both the parents and children appreciated the importance of the seminar. While the parents thanked Dr. Tesfay for his dedication, one of the children asked “why wasn’t this done before?”

The seminar was organised by the Eritrean Community in Holloway road. Dr Bereket Fesshatzion also thanked Dr. Tesfay on behalf of the Eritrean community in the UK. Dr. Bereket also said that effort is being made to acquire a hall for the community.
