Eritrean Independence picnic celebration in the Dutch Freedom City of Wageningen where the 2nd world war capitulation was signed in 1945. Eritreans from the surrounding area and Dutch Friends of Eritrea came together at the City’s Botanic Gardens to celebrate this precious day!

The Deputy Mayor of the City of Wageningen Mrs. Stella Esda, was the guest of Honour. She was updated on the situation in our beloved country Eritrea and those present also reiterated the wish of Eritreans at home and abroad to live in peace with our neighbors and work towards economic and social development of Eritrea. Mrs. Esda was presented with a pair of Sheda as THE symbolic representation of Eritrea’s struggle of Independence and freedom.In a relaxed atmosphere with the sun shining brightly, people ate, drank,and played sports including the curious passers by who wanted to know about the colourful celebrations and the nice smelling cuisine!
